One of the oldest documented magical resins, Frankincense has been used in religious ceremonies, cosmetic products, and traditional remedies for thousands of years. Obtained from the Boswellia tree, this potent oil is one of the most sought-after – so much so that it appears in a number of religious texts and enjoys worldwide fame. But what is it about Frankincense that makes it so special? And why have we at BENU infused this remarkable substance into our latest Talisman creation? Read on to journey through the magical powers that many claim this unique resin possesses, and discover how its powers could be bestowed upon you!

Perhaps most noted in the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, Frankincense was offered as one of three treasures, alongside gold and myrrh. With mentions in the Talmud, as well as the Old Testament, Frankincense was used in ritual by Jewish rabbis, particularly in the sacred rite of Ketoret. Arriving later to Europe, Frankincense soon after earned its name as a staple element of many religious ceremonies, particularly in the Catholic and Orthodox churches.

With over 52 references in the bible, there’s no doubt that Frankincense is well-respected in religious communities. Numerous sources in the Middle East claim that this spiritual-enhancing resin has the ability to improve communication with the creator, while other records state that Frankincense was also used by the ancient Egyptians in their religious rites. In Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, practitioners refer to Frankincense by its Sanskrit name, dhoop, and have incorporated it into their purification ceremonies for centuries.

Fast forward to modern-day magical traditions, Frankincense is still commonly used in spiritual circles to cleanse sacred space; used as an essential oil either directly on the skin or in an air purifier. It is believed that by doing so, we are able to purify the mind, body, and spirit. Frankincense’s warm, woody aroma is said to have a calming effect, promoting feelings of peace and relaxation. When burned as incense or used in meditation, Frankincense is believed to help connect the user with a higher power, enhancing spiritual awareness and encouraging a sense of inner balance and harmony.

This potent substance has long been associated with good luck and positive energy. In many cultures, Frankincense is believed to bring prosperity, success, and good fortune to those who use it. This makes it a popular choice for use in traditional good luck rituals, such as placing a small amount in a pouch and carrying it with you. Visionaries, however, opt for a far more specific method… According to some, Frankincense must be placed in a drawstring bag made of yellow fabric. The practitioner will then hold it in his or her hands while envisioning the pouch filling with golden light. This process supposedly brings an abundance of good luck and prosperity!

So whether you’re seeking success in your personal or professional life, or simply looking for a way to cultivate a more optimistic outlook, Frankincense could be just what you need! And here at BENU, we’ve come up with an artistic way to enjoy the benefits that this handy resin provides. With our new Talisman Frankincense fountain pen – infused with real Frankincense resin – you’ll be the proud owner of a writing instrument inspired by one of the most beloved magical symbols!

Scattered throughout the sun-kissed lands of South America is a delicate flower that carries with it a tale woven with ancient beliefs and modern admiration. Adorning landscapes with its vibrant hues and captivating hearts with its rich history, Lily of the Incas serves as the perfect inspiration behind our latest namesake BENU creation. Otherwise known as Alstroemeria, this delicate marvel dates back as far as the Inca civilization. So what is it about this magical plant that makes its presence span thousands of years, through spiritual legends and mystical allure? Let’s explore the secrets hidden within its petals, whispering tales of ancient wisdom and natural beauty.

The Incas, among the great civilizations of history, considered Alstroemeria a divine gift bestowed by the God of the Sun. They cherished its presence not only for its radiance but also for its believed otherworldly capabilities. As legend has it, this mysterious flower supposedly granted those within its possession abilities beyond mortal comprehension – from invisibility to the power of shape-shifting. And if that wasn’t nearly enough, The Incas also believed that this natural wonder brought about good fortune and prosperity. In fact, the allure of Alstroemeria’s beauty captivated the Inca emperor, Atahualpa, to such an extent that he commanded vast quantities of the flower be brought to him to ensure his long-lasting wealth.

Referred to as a symbol of abundance, the Lily of the Incas was used as an offering to the gods in religious ceremonies dating centuries back. This plant, however, didn’t receive its first official name until the 18th century, when it was christened Alstroemeria by the Swedish botanist, Baron Von Alströmer. Alstroemeria swiftly gained recognition as a symbol of profound devotion and friendship. Its popularity surged throughout the Victorian era–an epoch marked by unspoken sentiments–owing to the flower’s rich and varied hues. It was at this time that the flower also became known as a good-luck wish in weddings, arranged as beautiful bridal bouquets and gifted to the happy couple.

With each bloom lasting up to two weeks, Alstroemeria serves as a poignant symbol of enduring love and commitment, akin to the resilience of strong relationships navigating life’s trials. Just as this remarkable plant thrives in diverse climates and conditions, couples demonstrate their ability to weather challenges and difficulties together. The intricate patterns adorning its petals mirror life’s twists and turns, reminding us of the patience and understanding required in true companionship. Additionally, these unique markings are often referred to by spiritualists as the bond between two people.

Today, the Lily of the Incas remains a beloved flower, cherished by gardeners, florists, and spiritual practitioners alike. Its mystical properties are celebrated even to this day, used in spiritual ceremonies as a tool for self-growth; encouraging the practitioner to face new situations with adaptability and challenges with resilience. Whether as a gift of good luck or a token of affection, Alstroemeria continues to weave its magic, connecting us to the divine and nurturing our spirits. The Lily of the Incas frequently graces homes and workspaces, not only for its breathtaking beauty but also as a harbinger of positive energy. Given its natural beauty, Alstroemeria is used as a symbol of self-love, acceptance, and appreciation.

And as a nod to its ancient mystique, we’ve infused the essence of Lily of the Incas into our latest BENU masterpiece, incorporating the powder of this plant’s seeds into the pen’s material. And who knows? In doing so, we may feel the echos of ancient Incan magic, guiding us on our journey through life’s ever-unfolding mysteries, and infusing each pen stroke with its mystical essence.

Hawk’s Eye

Fountain Pen

TALISMAN COLLECTION

$ 162.00 SHOP NOW

Very few gemstones possess the enigmatic beauty of the Hawk’s Eye Quartz. With its etherial play of colour and depth, this intriguing crystal has captured the fascination of gemstone enthusiasts for thousands of years. But what is it exactly about this stone that bewilders the senses so? Let’s look beyond the crystal’s enchanting appearance, to its deep roots in spiritualism to uncover the answers. And having infused real Hawk’s Eye into our latest Talisman creation of the same name, it’s justification enough to undertake such an exploration. Join us, as we embark on an awe-inspiring journey into the mystery and wonder surrounding this curious crystal.

Hawk’s Eye Quartz, sometimes referred to as “the eye of the eagle”, is believed in a number of different mythologies to possess powerful and downright otherworldly properties. Often used as an amulet to ward off evil spirits, this stone- according to Native American Mythology- is considered to connect the physical world to the spiritual. These people would use it to receive messages from the divine, combined with its power to help the wearer remain grounded in times of uncertainty.

So, why the name? The hawk, in a number of different cultures, is viewed as a powerful and majestic bird of prey, and in Chinese Mythology, the stone was apparently even created from the eyes of these animals. Ouch! Hawks are known for their keen eyesight, thus, many spiritual-seekers worldwide were of the opinion that the Hawk’s Eye stone would bestow upon them the same ability to see into the etherial realm.

According to the Zulu people of southern Africa, Hawk’s Eye was associated with the deity Horus, depicted as, unsurprisingly, a hawk or falcon. Wearing the stone was believed to deliver the wearer courage and god-like strength, allowing them to move beyond any obstacles that obstructed their path. Some even lay with the stone on their forehead during meditation to enhance psychic abilities. Similarly – reverting back to Chinese tales- doing so was considered to bring about a sense of serenity, thanks to the gem’s connection with the element of water.

We won’t argue with the idea of lying down with the stone adorning our foreheads – who needs an excuse to rest!? Yet, Hindu myths also support the previous theory… Linked to the Hindu deity Lord Shiva, who was often depicted with an extra eye, Hawk’s Eye was used to work with the third eye chakra, helping the practitioner access higher levels of consciousness. One myth claims that Shiva granted the sage Markandeya with the power of divine sight, allowing him to see into the past, present, and future.

Another well-known tale, conceived by the Celts, was that the Hawk’s Eye stone protected them from harmful attacks from the Fomorians, a race of supernatural beings. Celtic people would look to Hawk’s Eye to support them in warding off threat from these mythical creatures, who were known for their malicious and often destructive behaviour.

We’re only beginning to scratch the surface when it comes to the plethora of legends that claim to set the tale straight regarding the Hawk’s Eye Quartz and its magical potential. But whether you’re a gemstone-devotee, a curious explorer, or remaining positively skeptical, we can all enjoy a bit of make-believe. Fans of exploring the curiosities of this world, we’ve used the Hawk’s Eye as inspiration behind our latest Talisman creation- an alluring and enigmatic fountain pen that is equally as mesmerising as its crystal counterpart! Who knows, perhaps it will bring about inner-wisdom, heightened intuition, and spiritual growth. And if not- well, you’ll have added a bewitchingly beautiful pen to your collection!
